- Innsbruck, Austria, 1964:
The IX Olympic Winter Games, a winter multi-sport event was celebrated in Innsbruck, Austria from January 29th to February 9th 1964. 1091 athletes from 36 countries participated in this event. There were a total of 34 events across 6 categories.
- Grenoble, France, 1968:
The 1968 Winter Olympics was held in Grenoble, France from February 6th to February 18th. 37 nations and 1158 athletes participated in the event. Norway won the most medals.
- Sapporo, Japan, 1972:
The XI Olympic Winter Games was celebrated from February 3th to February 13th, 1972 in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. It was the first Winter Olympics to be held outside Europe and North America. 35 nations and 1006 athletes participated in this event. Soviet Union won the most medals at this event. - Innsbruck, Austria, 1976:
It was the second time when Innsbruck, Austria was hosting the Winter Olympic Games. The event kicked off on February 4th and lasted till February 15th 1976. 37 nations and 1123 athletes took part in the event. Soviet Union won more medals than any other nation. - Lake Placid, New York, USA, 1980:
It was the 13th Olympic Games held from February 14th to February 23rd, 1980 in Lake Placid, New York, USA. 37 nations and 1072 athletes participated in the event. Soviet Union was again the winner with most medals. - Sarajevo, Yugoslavia, 1984:
The XIV Olympic Winter Games was celebrated in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia from February 7th to February 19th. 49 nations and 1272 athletes took part in the event. This time it was East Germany who won the most medals.
- Calgary, Alberta, Canada, 1988:
The 1988 Winter Olympics were held in Calgary, Alberta. The opening ceremony was on February 15th and the closing ceremony was on February 28, 1988. 57 nations and 1423 athletes participate in the event. Soviet Union won the most medals. - Albertville, France, 1992:
The XVI Winter Olympic Games was celebrated in Albertville, France. The celebration started from February 8th to February 23rd, 1992. 64 nations and 1801 athletes took part in the event. Germany won the most medals.
- Lillehammer, Norway, 1994:
The 1994 Winter Olympics was celebrated in Lillehammer, Norway. It was the first time that the Winter Olympic Games were held in two years so that the Summer and Winter Games can be held in alternating even years. The XVII Olympic Winter Game started from February 12th and lasted till February 27th, 1994. 67 nations and 1737 athletes participated in the event. Russia won the most medals. - Nagaro, Japan. 1998:
This was the second time Japan was hosting the Winter Olympic Games after the Winter Olympic Games of 1972. The XVIII winter olympics was celebrated in Nagaro, Japan from February 7th to February 22nd, 1998. 72 nations and 2176 athletes participated in the event. Germany won the most medals. - Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, 2002:
The 2002 WInter Olympics was the XIX Olympic Winter Games and was held in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA from February 8th to February 24th, 2002. 78 nations and 2399 athletes participated in the event. Norway won the maximum medals in this event. - Turin, Italy, 2006:
The 2006 Winter Olympics, a winter multi-sport event was celebrated in Turin, Italy from February 10, 2006 through February 26, 2006. This was the second time that Italy was playing host to Winter Olympics Games. 80 nations and 2508 athletes took part in the event. Germany topped the medals chart. - Vancouver, BC, Canada, 2010:
The 2010 Winter Olympics will be the 21st Winter Olympics. It will be held on February12th-February 28, 2010 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It would be the second time that Canada will host the Winter Olympic Games. More than 80 nations and above 5500 athletes are expected to take part in the event. - Sochi, Russia, 2014:
The 2014 Winter Olympics would be the XXII Winter Olympic Games. It is scheduled to be held from Febrary 7 to February 23, 2014 in Sochi, Russia. It will be the first time that Russia will host the Winter Olympics.

I didn't know that Russia will be hosting the Olympics in 2014!! Thanks for the update...this will be great for them.
