10 Most Important Gym Rules, Regulations And Etiquette
68If you looking to join a gym, then It is important that you make yourself aware of the basic gym rules too. Yes, you heard that right, there are some gym rules, regulations and etiquette that you must follow while going to the gym. Here's the list:
10 New Age Gym Rules And Etiquette:
- Buy Yourself A Pair Of Gym Shoes:
Get yourself a pair of dedicated gym shoes. The gym shoes should only be wore at the gym and should not be the one that you arrive in for the gym. - Mobile Manners:
There might be no other activity more irritating than using your mobile pone at gym. The usage of mobile phone during gym should be minimum. Ideally, keep your mobile phones at home or switch it off. - Sweat's Not Sweet:
Carrying your own towel to the gym is a must. You wouldn't like to be covered in someone else's sweat. And also with swine flu doing the rounds, it may cause health hazards. Also it will do you no good and you would be unpopular as well.
- Learn To Share:
I have seen people hogging gym equipments for themselves. Some people also have the habit of grabbing weights for themselves even when someone is working out. Please avoid doing this. Even when you're n a hurry, patiently wait for your turn or occupy yourself in doing some other workouts.
- Respect The Trainer:
Follow the maxim "Give Respect, Take Respect". Always repect your trainer and don't treat him like a paid servant. If your not giving him/her respect, your giving him license to be negligent to your workout.
- Don't Stare At Other's:
Many a time, when a person finds someone good looking of the opposite sex, they keep staring at the other person. Please avoid doing this, it is not a discotheque or a nightclub.
- Speak Softly:
Be polite and speak softly in the gym premises. Don't chat loudly and don't form groups to isolate others. Motivate everyone to exercise.
- Reduce Body Odour:
No one would like to even stand next to the person with a terrible body odour. Taking regular showers and using deodorants would help in minimizing body odour. Gym goers ought to do their bit to practice cleanliness.
- Not Music To The Ears:
There are many gym goers who likes loud music and there are many who doesn't. Don't presume that everyone else might have the taste as you. The best way is to carry your personal iPod and blast it on your headphones.
- Don't Skip Sessions:
Never cancel your appointment and if you have to do so try to do it as much in advance as possible. While the trainer would not like their clients to cancel appointments but they would appreciate if they are informed in advance.

This hub isn't very long, but it goes straight to the point. You've done really a good hub, being polite is important even in gym. Rated up.
Thanks for the explanation.
Short but to the point. I am pleased to say that I joined a gym two weeks ago and have only missed two days. Yippeee!!!
I think I joined a good gym. Everyone seems to have manors. No body odor yet!
Thanks,
Sage
Great hub! One thing that everyone SHOULD do when getting off a machine, is clean it off with a towel or antibacterial wipes! Some of the gyms I have been to have the wipes right next to it and this is a great idea. This is to reduce germs and sweaty machines!
Great Hub! Loved your term "mobile manners" - I will share that! The gyms are posting signs about wiping down machines. I don't know perhaps we should be wiping down before we use - is this rude? I have to trust the person before me - isn't this backwards?
hi. i have heard that once people hit the gym and leave after some time they grow obese!!!! is this true????
please help
Excellent hub, Very true, good etiquette is important, and the gym is a great place to practice having good manners. I totally agree with you, when it comes to smelling nice, I have had to endure people, who don't bath regularly at some previous jobs and yes good hygiene is a must.

Thanks for this, now I won't embarrase myself staring at the boys in the gym or spending hours in my mobile. I should have thought about it before. The only thing I am not sure about is why I would need a different pair of trainers only for the gym?
